On January 5th, 2015 three local
history buffs, Ray Harrington, Tom Sears and Bill Salerno gave an overview/history
of the once New Castle County Workhouse when it stood along Greenbank Road in
the Prices Corner area. It was the first of a series of three talks being
presented by the The Red Clay Valley History Talk Series. As stated on their Facebook page , These talks are a community outreach
project of Historic Red Clay Valley Inc. The talks will cover many
interesting topics related to the Red Clay Valley. It was
held in a room at the new Wilmington and Western Railroad administration
offices in Marshallton, De. The talk was well done and nicely attended with a
rough count of about 40-50 folks interested in the facility that once stood in
the Red Clay Valley.
